Insured care works within limits it has to keep. The time available for a consultation, and the medicines that can be used, are limited.
Self-pay care has no such limits. We take the time to listen, work out whether treatment is appropriate for you, and then offer treatment based on scientific evidence.
We offer only treatment whose scientific basis is established, drawing on clinical practice guidelines, major clinical trials and our own experience of treating patients here.
Before you decide, we set out not only how large the effect may be, but also where it does not reach, the conditions under which treatment should be stopped, and the side effects that may occur.
The doctor’s role is to set out the options, with their effects, how long they take, their side effects and their cost, and to choose together with you.
That includes the choice not to decide today. The decision is yours.
From judging whether treatment is appropriate to the end of treatment, the doctor works with the medical staff to see you through consistently.
If side effects occur or the effect is not enough, we reconsider the approach.
Whether we change course or decide to end treatment, we explain why.
